Carrot
Likes soft, stone‑free soil. Carrot seeds grow best when sown straight outside and left to grow where they are.
Things to look out for
- Use a fine net to keep carrot flies away
- Keep soil evenly damp to stop roots splitting
- Pull out weeds often so carrots get enough light and food
What to sow
Rake the soil smooth and draw shallow lines. Sprinkle seeds thinly, cover lightly, and keep the soil damp.

What to plant out
Do not move carrot seedlings. Keep rows weed‑free and cover with fine net to keep carrot flies out.

How to care
Water during dry spells so roots grow straight and don’t split. Be gentle when pulling out extra seedlings.
When to harvest
Pull up gently when roots are big enough to eat. Later sowings can be left in the ground into autumn.
