Parsley
A versatile leafy herb (flat or curly). Slow to start but goes on for many months once established.
Things to look out for
- Be patient — parsley seeds are slow to germinate
- Keep soil damp during germination
- Remove flower stalks to keep leaves growing
What to sow
Sow in modules or direct in shallow lines. Seeds are slow — be patient, germination can take 3–4 weeks.
UK window: Mar–Jul (direct or modules)
What to plant out
Move module‑grown seedlings out gently when they have several real leaves, ~20 cm apart.
UK window: Apr–Aug
How to care
Keep soil damp until seedlings appear. Water in dry spells to keep leaves tender. Pinch off any flower stalks to keep leaves coming.
When to harvest
Pick outer stalks first, leaving the centre of the plant to keep growing.
UK window: May–Nov
